There are basically 2 ways to get to “The Little Red Chandler River Cottage”. A Southern route & and a Northern route. Both are enjoyable in their own right.

 Southern Route

From 95N the Southern route bring you down Rt. 1A thru Ellsworth. Then you proceed on Rt. 1 the 50 miles to the cottage. This route can become somewhat crowded during the peak tourist season but the scenic views are worth it.

Northern Route

From 95N the Northern route brings you north to Rt. 9 or the “Airline” as the locals call it. So named after the “Airline Stage Coach Co. that used this route back in the early 1800’s. This route, now a high speed highway, is a beautiful drive thru the rugged Maine woods and relatively lightly traveled compared to the Southern route. From Rt. 9 there will be 3 opportunities to head south to our location, Rt. 193, Rt. 192 & Rt. 191. The first two being the quickest. All these roads will bring you down in elevation to Rt. 1.
